Windows is a collection of short stories. While it is technically fiction, most the of events described therein actually happened, but not necessarily at the same times. It was written by a bystander who was actually present when the events of the stories happened. The stories are designed so that the reader lives the experiences of the characters much as the characters themselves are experiencing them. The characters are real persons but their names have been changed for their protection. Many parts of the stories may be difficult to read for the average person because the stories deal with the horror of child abuse and what it is like to be raised in a world of monsters. However, the stories also depict the resilience of children, especially one child/man who survives the holocaust and rises to achieve a type of victory in the end. Windows is the first in a series of short story collections by David B. Yackley.
