"A New Kat At Scecina" looks at the experiences of two students friendship within a single year of their high school experience. One student, Makaley represents stability having had one year of the high school under her belt at Scecina. Kat (shorten for Katherine) is a new student who has traveled with her parents around the world but is new to Scecina. Despite their differences, both girls experience challenges eventually coming to realize the value of their friendship. Scecina Memorial High School is an actual Roman Catholic high school located on the northeast side of Indianapolis, Indiana. The high school has been at this location for more than 60 years. The motto of Scecina is: "Give A Little Extra." Makaley and Kat do indeed give a little extra to develop and build a great lifelong friendship never to be forgotten as well as the memory of those who also gave a little extra.
