Le Dernier Voyage de Robert F. Kennedy

Le 8 juin 1968, trois jours après l'assassinat de Robert F. Kennedy, un convoi funéraire transporte sa dépouille de New York à Washington, DC. Paul Fusco est dans le train et réalise près d'un millier de diapositives du peuple endeuillé massé aux abords des voies. Certaines de ces images sont devenues des icônes. À partir de 2014, Rein Jelle Terpstra a recherché et collecté des centaines de photographies prises par ceux qui se trouvaient sur le trajet du convoi. En 2009, Philippe Parreno a filmé une reconstitution du voyage du train donnant à voir, selon ses propres mots, « le point de vue du mort ». Entremêlant regards artistiques et vernaculaires, historiques et contemporains, The Train propose trois points de vue uniques sur ce moment clé de l'histoire des États-Unis.

RFK's Last Journey

On June 8, 1968, three days after the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, a funeral train transported his remains from New York City to Washington, D.C. Paul Fusco was on board and took nearly one thousand photographs of the people who came to grieve and pay their respects along the tracks. Some of these images have become iconic. In 2014, Rein Jelle Terpstra set out to track down the photographs taken by these mourners. He collected hundreds of pictures. In 2009, Philippe Parreno filmed a recreation of the train journey which, in his words, « shows the dead man's point of view. » Combining artistic, vernacular, historical, and contemporary perspectives, The Train presents three unique visions of this key moment in the history of the United States.
