Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus (AD 26-180) was Roman Emperor from AD 161 to 180, the last of the "Five Good Emperors," and is considered one of the most important Stoic philosophers. Also known as the Meditations, The Thoughts of Marcus Aurelius set forth his ideas on Stoic philosophy.
This volume also includes Cicero's (106 BCE-43 BCE) "Essay on Friendship," translated by W. Melmoth.
