The Tales of Meadowbrook Hollow, Grandfather Rabbit's Scheme, has the makings of a classic children book story and is referred to as being written in the style of Beatrix Potter in the Tale of Peter Rabbit. Each of the Hollow's animal characters shine with their personalities coming to life and being developed through dialogue and actions. Furthermore, the colorful and marvelous artwork in this fully illustrated picture book fuel even greater vitality and realism, bringing a heartfelt tale to higher heights.
Grandfather Rabbit's Scheme, more specifically, carries the young reader along a journey that clearly depicts how a little bit of love can go a long way - how one good turn deserves another. - and with determination and perseverance, how Alex, a young bunny stimulates an effort that not only leads to saving his new, dear friend but also changes the way in which much of the world views springtime.
Of course, this story could never be told, if a wise grandfather didn't develop a scheme that ultimately reshaped the thinking of Farmer Groucher. Nor, would this tale have come to life, if three bunnies, Stephie, Raya, and Alex weren't willing to join Grandfather Rabbit in carrying out his thoughtful plan. And, rabbits - Mrs. Ponders and Mrs. Brussel are due credit themselves not only for bringing color to this adventure story but for supporting their children in their colossal effort. And Myra, a prudent old hen, must not be forgotten as it was her good deed and quandary that lies at the roots of Grandfather Rabbit's Scheme.
This fast-paced tale stands tall regardless of its seasonal setting, however it magically blooms with its link to springtime. To say the least, this is a marvelous bedtime story.
