Zelda is a young sorceress set to graduate and leave the tower for a life of her own. When she is assigned Calain as her guardian and knight, the queen of Eriallon becomes envious and seeks to take Zelda for herself. Fiery red-haired Calain fights to protect her love from the queen and is forced to flee with Zelda and fellow knight, Selene. As they live on the run, Zelda is romantically torn between taming wild, strong Calain and claiming serious, gentle Selene. A lesbian harem romance series like no other!
--
"Did you come for Zelda or for me?" Calain asked, no contempt in her voice.
"You are my sister in arms," Selene said at once, as if it should have been obvious. "My foolish, annoying sister," she added, rolling her eyes, "but my sister all the same. If you are in danger, I shall come."
"And Zelda?" Calain prompted. Her voice was still devoid of contempt, instead filled with sincere curiosity.
Selene swallowed hard, as she always did when difficult feelings arose. Her eyes were determinately on a buckle as she tightened Calain's arm piece. Eventually, she confessed somewhat bitterly, "We both know I want her desperately. Since the moment I saw her, something stirred inside me, and I knew I must devote my life to her protection." Her eyes darkened. "But as it turned out, she was not Wick Blackwood, she was Zelda, the woman you had scorned only hours before, and as with everything, the gods gave you what I craved most." Finished helping Calain, Selene abruptly turned toward the tunnel.
--
"Perchance there will be another woman that stills you so," said Calain soothingly. "Zelda is a great beauty and a sweet spirit, but she is not the only maiden with such qualities."
Selene smiled sadly at Calain's attempt to comfort her. "Perhaps," she agreed, though Calian could tell she was humoring her. After a pause, Selene said weakly,
"There are no women like Zelda. I shall be on one knee before her the rest of my days. She makes me weak."
"She makes me strong," said Calain quietly.
--
Zelda looked up. "How is the pain?"
"Terrible," Selene answered, and Zelda knew she meant her heart, not her hand. Selene cupped Zelda's cheek. Zelda felt her heart thudding quicker as the strong, beautiful knight gazed at her with that serious fire again. Then all at once, Selene had leaned down and was kissing her. It was a tender kiss, though full of yearning. Selene's gentle tongue slid warm against hers, and Zelda found herself moaning as her heart sped up in excitement. Calain must've felt her heart, too, for the next thing she knew, Selene's mouth had been ripped from hers, a string of saliva all that linked their lips.
Zelda opened her eyes and watched in horror as Calain, who had grabbed a fistful of Selene's black hair, threw Selene bodily on the ground and proceeded to beat her in a kind of mad trance.
"Calain -- have you gone mad?" Selene snarled, shoving Calain away by the face.
--
Then Calain said with soft admiration, "My lady was a goddess today."
"Was I?" said Zelda in surprise.
"Do you jest? You shone like the sun as we rode from Ternia, and men trembled before you . . . I trembled."
