Omschrijving

The Orchard Pavilion is a novel written by Arthur Christopher Benson. It tells the story of a young man named Maurice, who inherits a large estate from his uncle in the English countryside. Maurice is a sensitive and introspective person, who finds solace in nature and the beauty of his surroundings. However, he soon realizes that the estate comes with a number of responsibilities, including managing the orchard pavilion, a popular spot for picnics and social gatherings. As Maurice begins to explore his new home and meet the people who live and work there, he discovers a world of secrets and hidden desires. He becomes involved in a complex web of relationships, including a love triangle between himself, his cousin, and a local artist. As he struggles to navigate these relationships and fulfill his duties as the new owner of the estate, Maurice must confront his own inner demons and come to terms with his place in the world. The Orchard Pavilion is a beautifully written novel that explores themes of love, loss, and the complexities of human relationships. Benson's vivid descriptions of the English countryside and the people who inhabit it create a rich and immersive world that readers will not soon forget. With its engaging characters and compelling storyline, The Orchard Pavilion is a must-read for fans of classic English literature.1914. Son of the hymnist Edward Benson, A.C. Benson was a well-known poet. He wrote the Coronation Ode for Edward VII's coronation in 1902. The Orchard Pavilion is one of his novels and begins: It was the pavilion which had first attracted Roderick Armitage to the place; he had caught a sight of its slender stone chimney, with the queer pierced ornament at the top, above the flowering apple-trees. Roderick had a pleasant taste for the style and aspect of houses, and saw beauties of proportion and material where many people could see none. It was in one of his undergraduate vacations, and he was rambling about the Cotswolds alone-that was one of his fancies. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
