The Messiah: A Poem, In Six Books is a religious epic poem written by Robert Montgomery and published in 1832. The poem tells the story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, as described in the Bible. The six books of the poem cover different aspects of Christ's life, including his birth, teachings, miracles, betrayal, crucifixion, and resurrection. Despite its popularity, however, The Messiah has since fallen out of favor with literary scholars, who criticize its sentimentalism and lack of originality.
