Gwen Cheski had things on her mind. She was struggling to make a fresh start, with a new job in a new town, in a new state, far removed from anything she'd known. Meanwhile, her past was in the past, with all of its heartaches and all of its secrets. Of course, sometimes we don't know the depths of our own secrets. For Gwen, this was a truth soon to be brought home in fear and pain. Then the murders started, and the bodies began to disappear, leaving only unanswered questions and a growing pall of fear in their wake. The authorities insisted there was no pattern, but there was. Gwen began to sense its forming. Not clearly at first, but each new horror brought with it added clarity. The body count mounted and the terror grew. Soon, she knew, there would be no hiding -- either from the evil shrouding the town, or from the hidden places within herself from whence the recognition came. That was when she first saw the red van and the flood of secrets began to flow forth.
