On the outside, John David Henry is a regular person who works at the plant making trucks. Jack's life, however, is a tangled web of secrets. Author David J. Shepard gives his readers quite the journey in the life of Jack Henry, taking them through each strand of this web with precision. The prose in this book carries depth, just enough of it to allow the reader to enjoy and understand the emotions thereof. A man of Jack's caliber is rare. People are drawn to him for his good nature and generosity. Jack truly understands from whomever much is given, much is expected. With references to popular culture, David Shepard creates an easy pitch for Jack Henry as the titular American caring for his friends, family, and country. Rows of closed stores begin the scene of Jack's morning commute, and the foreign cars parked at the executive parking spaces color the sentiments of industrial, Middle-class American towns into the story. The book explores religion with seamless detail. It shows that even though one might go through horrible experiences, God will deliver help always. This is a great book to read when one's faith in God may be wavering. Walking through Jack's life, seeing how resilient and faithful he is will renew the reader's faith. Then as troubles spread and puts his daughter's life in danger of relapse and violence, Jack the father feels he must put a stop to all of this. In True Lies fashion, he digs up the dirt on who is hurting his friends and his family. Jack then brings a war back on his enemies' turf with righteous firepower to save his loved ones and kills the bad guys. For his efforts, Jack Henry is celebrated as a hero. One critic wrote, "I truly enjoyed reading this book as a complete saga. I will surely miss the main characters that I've sort of developed a bond with. He became the man America needs to have more of. With qualities as his, it would be a long time for someone like him to come along. I recommend this entire saga for anyone that enjoys an exciting life full of experiences and encounters of positivity."
