The Fernow Watershed Acidification Study is a long-term paired watershed acidification study, undertaken in the central Appalachian mountains of West Virginia, USA. One of the watersheds receives chronically elevated N and S amendments, while other watersheds serve as reference. The Study, which started in 1989, includes research of biogeochemical responses of streams, soils and vegetation, and includes research on effects on salamanders.
