Miss Bee lives in Two-Paw Estates with her two crazy cats, Socks and White-Out, where she grows secret flowers in her butterfly garden.

Part of Miss Bee's daily routine is enjoying a lazy afternoon tea on her front porch while Socks and White-Out take their catnaps. It is on one such afternoon that readers are introduced to Miss Bee's young neighbor, Jayden, who is walking home from school.

Miss Bee and Jayden are the best of friends. He helps her in the butterfly garden until the sun gets sleepy. When he is much taller, it is time for him to go out into the world and do all of the things that God created him to do.

Miss Bee misses Jayden very much but not for long because his brothers fill his shoes rather quickly. They all learn to help in Miss Bee's butterfly garden, and while they are learning new skills, Miss Bee is blessed in return. Each spring when the secret flowers they planted come to visit, Miss Bee remembers all the special times they spent on the lazy afternoons with Socks and White-Out, and she never forgets her love for the brothers.

This is a story about friendships that last a lifetime.
