Omschrijving

Refusing to return home with his magic still uncontrolled, Nails tries to undo some of the damage his destruction of the Empire has caused by delivering a group of refugee children to an orphanage. A wizard at the orphanage teaches him the fine control he needs to decide to return home, but fate steps in and he is injected into the struggle to control the city state of Tindoll where a malevolent wizard Dargo has just been eradicated. Unfortunately Dargo has only been transported to a different world where old comrades must continue the struggle with aid from dragons. Every good turn only results in further problems until a magical confrontation causes Nails to lose his memories as a destructive dark magic is pushed deep into Mother earth.

Years pass peacefully before Nails' memory returns, and he finds the dark magic has taken its toll on the southern cities to the point where the people's only option is to escape north to the Lake Country that Nails calls home, if they can. Who survives when civilizations clash, and there is no place to escape to?
