When the Lord Jesus ascended to heaven, He led captivity captive and gave gifts to men. We learn from the New Testament that the gifts were given by the Holy Spirit to the church on the day of Pentecost. Some of the gifts were for signs to the Jews, some were to reveal new truth, some were for evangelism, while others were for the building up of the church. There are differences among Christians as to which of these gifts are still current today. It is the standpoint of this book that the revelatory, miraculous, and sign gifts have ceased. It is therefore very important that we consider what the Bible teaches about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, as our understanding of the subject will impact on our gospel witness, on our worship, and on our service. The book is short and easy-to-read, and hopefully accessible to any interested Christian, irrespective of age, who is seeking to understand the "apostles' doctrine" more accurately on the gifts of the Spirit.
