Omschrijving
Inman (1837-99) was a soldier, frontiersman and author. He joined the army in 1857 and served during the Indian campaigns in Oregon and California and in the American Civil War, earning distinction for his gallantry on the battlefield. He was later stationed at Fort Harker as a paymaster and in the early 1870s was tried for embezzlement and other financial issues and was dismissed for what may have been largely carelessness. He settled in Kansas and worked as a journalist and newspaper editor, and author of short stories and books about the plains and western frontier. He was a friend and associate of Buffalo Bill and served under General Custer. This collection of true stories was first published in 1898 and is reprinted from the fifth edition of 1917. With illustrations throughout.
