Sunday was a perpetual pessimist. When anything good happened in his life, something bad was sure to follow. Over the years while working at the WonderKids treatment center for children with unusual maladies, where he had been the head janitor for longer than he cared for, Sunday had lost his hope, his dreams, and above all his faith. He spent his days cleaning messes, entertaining the children and pining over the staff's phlebotomy technician. When an overzealous eight-year old named Gabriel- an angelic boy who spreads love through greeting cards, and a teenager named Callym- a tortured soul prone to random acts of evil arrive at the facility, Sunday's world is turned upside down. As these children form an unlikely friendship in order to seek out the new Word of God, Sunday strives to keep the facility open, the children safe and his life in order. "Sweet Serene" is a lighthearted story filled with unique and imaginative characters and moments of comedy, heartache and beauty.
