"Gender dysphoria". "Transgender". I'm older than both of those terms.
You'd think that with all my experience, I'd understand the condition a lot more than I do. But I gave up on finding the "why" a very long time ago. For me, being "transgender" has been a gift, a curse, a source of both shame and fascination, and - on balance - a great deal of fun.
This book has nothing to do with politics, ideology, activism, legal battles, parental rights, or any other issue that's peripheral to the subject of gender self-identity.
I hope you learn something along the way. But my intent is just to tell my own story.
