The year is1865, and Joseph Jones, a nineteen-year-old rich boy from New York City, becomes
besotted with the Wild West due to his obsession with the cheap novels written about the Wild
West of the USA. His only aim in life was to follow his dream of emulating cowboys wearing bright shirts,
flowing chaps, and ten-gallon hats. Plus, he pictured himself waving a .45 calibre revolver as he sat astride
a galloping white horse while pursued by savage feather-adorned Indians.
Defying his father's wish for him to follow in his steps and become a banker, he makes a $1,000.00
wager with an old school classmate that he could spend twelve months living and working in the West.
Train and stagecoach travel sees him end up in Santa Fe. He obtains a job with the Wells Fargo
freight company. He becomes mixed up with bad company, and his exciting adventures see
him involved in stagecoach holdups, travelling the Santa Fe trail, befriending a whore and much more.
Shootouts, killings, and prison time in an army fort are all experienced by the daring
young man.
