Saint Genest and Venceslas is a play written by Jean Rotrou and first published in 1646. The play tells the story of two saints, Saint Genest and Saint Venceslas, who are both martyred for their faith. Saint Genest is a former actor who converts to Christianity and is subsequently persecuted by the Roman authorities. Saint Venceslas is a prince who is betrayed by his own brother and killed for his beliefs. The play explores themes of faith, loyalty, and sacrifice, and is considered one of Rotrou's most important works. This edition of the play, published in 1907, includes an introduction and notes by the editor, as well as a bibliography of Rotrou's works.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
