After graduating from high school in a small South Carolina town, Amalee Wise did not want to go to college, even though she graduated with an 'A' average and had been at the top of her class from first through twelfth grade. She works factory jobs but she is not satisfied with the meager life prospects they offer. Amalee sees an air force commercial that says "Aim High", but when she goes to the recruiting station to join, the office is closed. As she is about to leave the building, A Navy Recruiter invites her into his office. Sailor Girl is on her way to high-seas adventure.
She takes us through here training in boot camp and beyond. Her powerful songs offer an emotional relief from her hectic life. Then she gives us a view through her eyes of port visits to cities all over Europe and Asia. Some were liberty ports and others were working ports. She also provides snapshots of matters of the heart---love found and lost and finally finding true love, while serving in the US Navy.
