One night, Missy walks into a bar and kisses the first man she sees. That man is Jase Montgomery, a drifter who doesn't like to stay in any one place for long and has no interest whatsoever in beginning a relationship with a society belle.
For Missy, a kiss born out of desperation and spontaneity is a wake-up call after the man she loved, David, shows up with his new bride. She chides herself for being foolish enough to kiss a complete stranger, but for some reason, she can't get her mind off of him.
The tension intensifies when Missy goes to work one day to see Jase working for her company. At first she covers her embarrassment with haughtiness, but the more she tries to avoid him, to distance herself, the more drawn in she becomes. Meanwhile, Jase begins to see more in Missy than just another pampered princess, and finds himself struggling between his desire to keep moving and his growing desire for her.
Can Missy convince Jase they're made for each other? And can a quiet loner risk his heart for a woman who may still love another man?
