Their leader raised his right hand and revealed what I'd been after.

"My sword?!" I gasped, relieved.

"Indeed, Reyna. We will allow you to return to your lands, with your weapon no less, but only after you have given us an equivalent exchange."

Maybe I could just slay them and be done with it, I considered.

"Are you foolish enough to engage us all?" Damnit, his mind-reading was such a nuisance.

"And what would be of equal value?"

The leader approached me, his hooves sounding like tree trunks banging against the earth.

"Your body."

I narrowed my eyes on him.

"We centaurs are neither complete human nor beast, and as such it is rare we come across humans we are capable of mating with. You seem strong though, Reyna. Very strong indeed. We'd like to test… just how durable you are."

I stood slowly and put away my blades. I looked at them all, taking in their huge forms. They were all strong, all strangely attractive in their own alien way. I had never been with such a creature. A distant, unexpected stirring of desire nettled at my insides. I saw the leader's mouth twitch in a smile and knew he must've read my mind.
