Pray You Now is the title of the first in this collection of short stories by Patricia L. Pullen, a former teacher of young children with intellectual and other disabilities. Pray You Now was previously published in the literary magazine, Talking River. The last in the collection, The Girl In the Moon, was previously published in the professional journal, Beyond Behavior. Most of the stories are based, at least in part, or her own experiences or those of her family and friends. Patty died in early 2012 as a consequence of multiple brain diseases. She had been ill for only a few months. She left two novellas, Brownie, based on her grandmother's life, and The Color of Integrity, based on Virginia's infamous Racial Integrity Act of 1925, which would have prevented her parents from marrying had her mother's lineage been discovered. That law was struck down by the U. S. Supreme Court in 1967 in the case of Loving v. Virginia.
