Outis: A Nursing Elegy is a short-sonnet sequence written from one nurse to another. Illustrated by the poet's artwork, the poem focusses on death and grief within the role of being a nursing witness, a "no one" to the passing.
Outis: nobody or no one. Outis was the pseudonym Odysseus adopted when he blinded the Cyclops Polyphemes. He left the Cyclops to scream "Nobody's trying to kill me" while he unnoticedly slipped on by.
