After Washington DC is granted statehood, the United States Senate gains two extra senators, both guaranteed to be Democrats. In a bid to restore balance to the institution, and to gain senate representation for Republicans in Minnesota, State Senator Richard Anderson plans on bringing a bill forward that will see the state divided in two, North Minnesota and South Minnesota.

Minnesota State News Network hosts a night of debate and discussion, featuring prominent politicians, experts in politics, history, business, and economics, as well as the opinions of regular Minnesotans.

While debate ensues, Matt Smith, a meat packer from Mankato, travels to the Twin Cities to attend a meeting of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty, a new anti-establishment organization that opposes the two-party system and what they perceive to be a 'super-gerrymander' of the State of Minnesota.
