Nedko Solakov's (*1957 in Cherven Briag, Bulgaria) art breaks the mold in many ways. Working in very different media, using found materials, drawing, painting, scribbling on walls, or videos, the artist counteracts the principles and rules of order, deliberately including coincidences or accidents in his work. In order to present the full range of his humorous oeuvre, four curators have chosen one piece from every year between 1980 and 2010: All in Order, with Exceptions presents this selection in an artfully designed and comprehensive volume. Continuing in terms of style, format, and structure with this extraordinary monograph, the smaller book, The Exceptions (from All in Order, with Exceptions), shows how the selected works have been exhibited at four locations. New works such as Knights (and other dreams), which featured prominently at dOCUMENTA (13), and the new Paintings with No Texts series complete the volume.
