On a typical day in the neighborhood, Nasheema comes face-to-face with a strange dog. At first leery of one another, Nasheema and the dog take the time to react to the actions of the other and quickly become friends. Focusing primarily on past-tense verbs (both simple and irregular), this short story also gives readers the opportunity to touch on cause and effect as well as safety guidelines when meeting new animals. Many conversations will come out of this simple, lovable story.
