This book includes a selection of English articles published since the mid-1980s at the Center for the Study of Giftedness (CSG) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) in Munich under the direction of the editor. From the circles of (former) CSG researchers, many scientists were recruited last quarter of a century active in the field of giftedness and high ability around the globe. Students from all over the world are enrolled at the International MA Study Program "Psychology of Excellence" opened in 1997 at the LMU. The research programs documented in this volume demonstrate a strong international connection. The 38 chapters of this book represent approximately 20% of all the English publications of the CSG. The six parts cover a wide variety of topics: Theoretical and Developmental Aspects of Giftedness and Talent (8 chapters). Assessment of Giftedness, Identification, and Talent Search (5 chapters). Gender Differences and Intervention Studies (9 chapters). Gifted Education and Counseling (5 chapters). Program Evaluation Studies (6 chapters). Cross-Cultural Studies on Giftedness and Creativity (5 chapters). Apart from original or more recent contributions, most reprints have been updated or rewritten. They represent the state of the art in a comprehensive subject matter. Hence this publication is an essential reading for researchers, practitioners, gifted program planners, policymakers and graduate students in the field.
