Mr. Dooley's Opinions is a collection of humorous columns written by Finley Peter Dunne, originally published in the Chicago Evening Post between 1898 and 1902. The columns are written in the voice of Mr. Dooley, an Irish-American bartender in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, who comments on political and social issues of the day. With a mix of wit, satire, and common sense, Mr. Dooley offers his opinions on topics such as the Spanish-American War, immigration, prohibition, and women's suffrage. The book provides a glimpse into the cultural and political climate of turn-of-the-century America, as well as the perspectives of working-class Americans during that time.1900.
