Perfect for tourists visiting Louisiana for Francof'te (the state's 300th anniversary celebration), Congres Mondial, or any other reason, Memories of St. Martinville presents fifteen historic attractions of Evangeline's Louisiana hometown, perhaps the most French of Cajun cities.
The sites of interest include St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, the cemetery of St. Martinville, and the town statue of Evangeline, whom many claim was actually Emmeline Labiche, ever-faithful to her long-separated Louis Arceneaux. Her remains are said to repose in St. Martinville.
