In this story, Lou learns about different types of doctors, why people go to the doctor or dentist, and what might occur while he's there. For example, he may have to wait quite a while and should bring something to do. The doctor may use special tools that look interesting, but are not safe to play with, so he will have to manage himself. Experts Kimberly Tive and Venita Litvack do an excellent job of providing the right words and ways to set expectations for children who are going to a doctor's appointment. Each Lou Knows What to Do title is written for students in grades PreK through 5, including those with a variety of developmental levels and learning styles.
