This book, first published in 1910, contains biographies of the first five Abbots of Wearmouth and Jarrow, with descriptions of the church, a short account of bibles written at the sister monasteries under the direction of Coelfrid, a brief account of the Memorial Cross, and some brief notes on the life of the Rev. Peter Wilcock. Contents include: "Life of the Venerable Bede", "Lives of the Abbots Ceolfrid, Sigfrid, Eosterwine, and Huebert", "Later History of the Monasteries of Wearmouth and Jarrow", "The Codex Amiatinus", "Monk Wearmouth Church in 1910", "The Bebe Memorial Cross", "Notes on the Life of the Rev.
