Cet ouvrage passe au peigne fin trente-cinq synodes, tenus dans les diocèses de France entre 1983 et 1999, en vue d'examiner la manière dont les célébrations liturgiques y ont été conçues et réalisées. Le travail d'Arnaud Join-Lambert offre une sorte d'observatoire des tendances liturgiques françaises durant les vingt dernières années du XXe siècle. Parce qu'elles sont exceptionnelles, les célébrations synodales revêtent un caractère très particulier et jouissent d'un statut hautement emblématique. Ces liturgies ont été pensées et préparées, les particularités qu'on y trouve ont été voulues, et l'on est donc fondé à y voir la conception idéale que leurs auteurs se faisaient de la liturgie. On s'en rend vite compte : les documents collectés par l'auteur sont susceptibles de " lectures " plurielles. Ils offrent diverses entrées, dont les principales sont ecclésiologiques et liturgiques. Les matériaux rassemblés ici constituent un dossier extrêmement riche et font de ce livre, quarante ans après la réforme liturgique du second Concile du Vatican, un ouvrage stimulant dans des débats pleinement d'actualité sur l'art et la manière de célébrer la foi. -- This work examines in detail thirty-five synods, held in French dioceses between 1983 and 1999, in order to explore the ways in which their liturgical celebrations were devised and executed. The work of Arnaud Join-Lambert serves as a sort of observation post of French liturgical tendencies during the last two decades of the 20th century. On account of their exceptional nature, the synodal celebrations take on a very special character and enjoy a highly emblematic status. These liturgies were carefully thought out and prepared: their distinctive aspects are quite intentional, and we are right to see them as their authors' ideal concept of the liturgy. One soon realises that the documents amassed by the author are open to many different 'readings'. There are various avenues of approach, the main ones being ecclesiological and liturgical. The material gathered here constitutes a dossier of immense value that, forty years after the liturgical reforms of Vatican II, makes this book a thought-provoking contribution to the very topical debate on the art and manner of celebrating the Faith.
