This is a previously unpublished play that exemplifies the essential qualities of a Baroque hagiographical play, but with thematic and stylistic features by which VÉlez de Guevara pushes against the boundaries of Tridentine orthodoxy. This critical edition in the original Spanish is edited and annotated by William R. Manson and C. George Peale with an introduction by MarÍa Elisa DomÍnguez de Paz. It is number 92 in Juan de la Cuesta Hispanic Monographs' Ediciones crÍticas series.
