About the Author:
Dr John Teale has worked in the general and life insurance industries for almost 40 years. He has served in executive roles with global general and life insurers and has operated his own successful financial services and insurance brokerage company. Until recently he was a senior lecturer in financial planning at the University of New England, Armidale and the University of the Sunshine Coast. He also was a foundation committee member of the Financial Planning Education Council and a member of the U.S. based Financial Planning Standard's Board education working group. He is also the author of several highly acclaimed peer reviewed academic papers on Self Managed Superannuation Funds, the education of financial advisers and guidance on advisers' due diligence responsibilities when providing advice on financial products to aged clients.
Dr Teale is now retired with his wife Judy to their beach house in Woodgate, Queensland from which they travel extensively. He is still keenly interested in his lifelong vocation of insurance and still reads and researches actively in this area. The insurance industry is a challenging and dynamic industry and offers any young person a wonderful opportunity to pursue a lifelong and rewarding career.
