The Project on National Security Reform (PNSR) has highlighted several problems within our national security system that affect government efficiency. Going beyond the efficiency aspect, these issues have a detrimental impact on our nation's ability to adequately address and confront the challenges inherent in a globalized world. For some time, business has been forced to adapt to changes in the international environment and corporate competitiveness arena. What drives this need for change is simple - company survivability. Because of this, the business sector has found ways to create more efficient and effective processes. Drawing from two successful companies, Apple and Google, this paper highlights key attributes within these companies that can and should be more widely implemented within our national security system and government as a whole to confront today's threats.
