Omschrijving

Hobson's Choice is a play written by Harold Brighouse that was first performed in 1916. The play is set in Salford, England in the late 19th century and follows the story of Henry Hobson, a widower and owner of a successful boot shop. Hobson has three daughters, Alice, Vicky, and Maggie, who all work in his shop, but he treats them poorly and refuses to let them marry.Maggie, the eldest daughter, decides to take matters into her own hands and sets out to marry Willie Mossop, one of Hobson's employees who is a skilled bootmaker. She convinces Willie to leave Hobson's shop and start their own business, which becomes very successful. Along the way, Maggie also helps her sisters find love and happiness. The play explores themes of class, gender, and independence, as Maggie defies societal expectations and takes control of her own life. It is a classic comedy that has been adapted into several films and stage productions over the years.TUBBY (cutting bread). Every way you look at it.
