Hope MacKenzie likes a plan and hates the unpredictable. While it wasn't in her plan to fall in love her junior year at Chapel Hill, Heath Beckett made sense. They were both in the school of business with similar goals. She thought it was cute that he traveled to Asheville to take stained glass classes. Maybe he would use his hobby to make a window for their house one day. But when Heath told her shortly before graduation that he was quitting school to become a stained glass artist, it unnerved her so badly that she broke up with him. By the time she recovered from her shock and went looking for him three months later, he was married! She never recovered.

Heath Beckett never expected Hope to understand his passion for creating stained glass. He just expected her to love him as he loved her, with her entire being and forever. He didn't expect her to understand when he had to leave school to accept the commission of a lifetime but he didn't expect her to snatch her love away either. When his mentor's sweet daughter, who had always had a crush on him, was diagnosed with leukemia, a devastated Heath gave her what was left of his broken heart and did his best to make her happy for the few months she had left.

Seven years have passed and Heath has a thriving business in the artisan boutique town of Beauford, Tennessee, which happens to be Hope's hometown-and she's back.
