5 Star Review from Reader's Favorite:

Joseph was an exceptional carpenter. He traveled extensively to hone his craft. As a child, however, he was bullied by his older siblings until he was welcomed as an apprentice in a master crafter's household where he was given the training he needed to excel in his trade. As he matured, his expertise was sought after by many all through the biblical lands. His life followed the path of love, marriage, sorrow over loss, and the finding of yet another love. And, it was the second love, his second wife, Mary, who gave him a son who would place Joseph in the limelight for centuries to come.

Charles B. Carson's story, From the House of David, is Joseph's story. Well, mostly Joseph's story. It's also Mary's story, too. But Mary's story has been told many times, while Joseph's story has been left on the sidelines. But he was as important in the life of our Saviour as was Mary. The story is told mostly in the first-person narrative, either from Joseph's or Mary's point of view, though there is a short passage at the beginning that speaks from Joseph's father's point of view before Joseph was born. The plot follows Joseph's troubling childhood, his apprenticeship, and growth as an expert carpenter and a true man of God. The Angel Gabriel appears in many scenes, forecasting the important events in the lives of those of the House of David. The story, directed at a Middle-Grade audience, is told in simple language in the storytelling genre reflected of ancient times. Both educational and entertaining, this makes for a fascinating read for all ages.
