Her life changes in an instant when Jaz Davis looks down and spots the arm of a dead woman next to the motorcycle tire. To her surprise, the man who may have done it is standing over the woman's body. Police sirens catch her attention. When Jaz looks back he's gone. Writing under the name of J.Grace, I was born in Jamestown, New York where I soon discovered I was a storyteller. As a young adult, working as a graphic artist and making art in my spare time, I wrote word pictures to inspire my painting. Completing my BFA degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, I went on to obtain my teaching credential from San Jose State University and taught art at a private all-girls' high school. During this time, I completed my first short story, The Three Sisters, a surrealistic fantasy stemming from a coma dream.
Taking a five-year break from teaching to recharge my intellectual batteries, I completed my sommelier training and worked in this profession during my hiatus from teaching. From server to bartender to sommelier, I collected stories. Although I missed teaching and eventually returned, this time away allowed me to refine my storytelling and hone my skills as a writer of the psychological thriller genre.
