Five Study Guides for small groups by Professor John Wyatt, based on material presented at the Keswick Convention 2012 by Professor John Wyatt and his book Matters of Life and Death. Assisted suicide and euthanasia are highly topical issues, particularly in the light of current political pressures. The aim of Finishing Line is to help individuals and church leaders deal with this sensitive subject in a compassionate, biblical and informative way. The course would also be suitable for theological colleges and Christian events as well as a wider base. Finishing Line provides audio-visual presentation and a printed study guide covering what it means to be human, medical and palliative care, euthanasia and assisted suicide, dying well and faithfully, how to be remembered, and more. Discussion points, prayers and resources are included. There are no easy answers, but the course encourages a more open understanding of the subject from a Christian perspective. Course components: Leaders Guide with text of filmed talks, pastoral notes, biblical references and prayer points for each section by Celia Bowring of CARE. Attached to the Guide is the: DVD - Full talks by John Wyatt, introductions by Philippa Taylor, CARE's consultant on family and bioethics issues. The five sections: 1. Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide - the current scene 2. What does it mean to be human? 3. Can suicide ever be a Christian way to die? 4. Dying well and dying faithfully - personal aspects. 5. Dying well and dying faithfully - medical and legal aspects.
