Aunt Googy takes Eliza on a stroller ride and they experience a variety of different sounds. Eliza (and you!) will get to "read" the story and then orally express the appropriate sounds heard on their stroll.
Through the use of onomatopoeia (words whose pronunciation imitate the sounds they describe), the beginning reader will start to understand and identify that the letters on the page have meaning. The young reader will enthusiastically participate in the telling of Eliza's adventure by providing the sounds depicted on each page.
After several readings, you and your beginning reader will become more acquainted with the story. You will relish retelling the story as you recognize the written word and the sound it represents.
Maybe both of you will even be surprised and agree with Googy and Eliza's parents as they reveal what their favorite sound of all is!
