Judaism is about asking questions, engaging in dialogue, wrestling with text and ideas. In a Jewish early childhood program, each member of the staff is a Jewish educator. It is essential that early childhood Jewish educators engage in ongoing Jewish education, especially Torah l'shma --study for its own sake. For five years, USCJ's department of education provided early childhood directors of USCJ Synagogue and Schechter early childhood programs with a monthly Staff Meeting Shiur - a lesson consisting of text and questions, to be used to stimulate Jewish discussion during staff meetings.
