ENGLISH DESCRIPTION 1949, 10 years and 4 months after the Spanish Civil War. Miguel Mascarell, a former police inspector for the anti-Franco Republic, is alone in Barcelona where he receives news about the death of Mateo Galvany, his former boss, a man who once saved his life. His daughter Maria confesses to Mascarell that she thinks her father was killed. She tells him that a few days prior, the police took them both into custody without explanation. Maria was released the next morning. Her tortured father came back days later stunned and almost speechless. He only managed to tell his daughter that if anything were to happen to him, she should find Mascarell. Despite the veil of silence and repression that weighs on Barcelona and the entire country, Mascarell decides to accept Maria's request for help and find out why her father died. A woman, Esperanza Sistachs, who recently became part of Mateo Galvany's life had restored his will to live. She hands Mascarell a notebook with Mateo's personal notes, which helps him find the identity of the four men that his ex-boss was recently visiting with. Mascarell will follow the trail left by these men that will take him to the barracks of Montjuïc and eventually to the most famous family of criminals in the city.He will soon understand that he is facing an intricate plan to assassinate the dictator.
