Eric was too good to be true. He was sexy, brilliant and rich. And he wanted her, Jess, a recent divorcee. This was too good to be true. Jess was convinced that Eric would eventually realize that he didn't want her and would leave her, just like her ex did.
"Wait!" He called after her. "Jess!" She skidded to a stop and turned.
"How do you know my name?" She stumbled back as he reached her.
"I'm Jared," he said quickly.
Her eyes went wide. "You said your name is Eric." What was going on?
"It is but I use Jared online." He stepped closer. She backed up another step. "Jess, don't go."
"How did you know who I was?" her voice shook with surprise.
"I saw the scarf sticking out of your pocket right before you ran out." Eric looked pointedly at her pocket before returning his gaze to her.
"I didn't run." She may have power walked, but she did not run. Jess slid her hand along the side of her jacket, her lips pressed together as her fingers grazed the silky fabric of the scarf that peeked out.
