Omschrijving

Andre Butzer, who lives and works in Berlin, has participated in a great number of group and solo exhibitions. In 1996 he founded the Akademie Isotrop, together with other artists. Butzer is interested in the comic genre, whose ambivalence comes on the one hand from a childlike inflation of effect and on the other hand from an artificial lifelessness, set beyond morality. This Mickey Mouse existence refers to an infantile, confused human image, which evokes amiability as well as compassion in the viewer.
