At 7, Cathy and her 9 siblings struggle to survive amidst the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. At 19 she embarks on her educational journey to become a nurse. By 21 years of age and a staggering 36 hours from home, Cathy begins nursing in an outpost of New Guinea. It is there that she first finds love. Following her passion for her career, she travels across the globe to Scotland for her midwifery training, where she meets a handsome star-crossed love. Her life then leads her to Africa and later South Africa, where she settles for a time and is where her children are born. Fearing that South Africa is not the environment for her children to grow up in, she makes yet another transcontinental move to Australia.
An incredible account of the life of trailblazer Cathy Rose, a woman who was able to travel across the globe utilising her nursing and language skills to lead the way.
