This monograph of the Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges for Teacher Education (AILACTE) presents perspectives of fifteen college presidents regarding teacher education in American liberal arts settings. As the decade of the 1990s unfolds, liberal arts colleges have an opportunity to make substantial new contributions to teacher education. This opportunity to contribute must include publicizing what these institutions stand for and accomplish in teacher education both at individual campuses and on a larger scale.
