Bob in For Apples
Nestled in a small town in the mountains in Southern California lives a community which once thrived on autumn apple sales and tourist dollars brought in by the festivals and carnivals at harvest time. Once upon a time, those apple sales were enough to carry the villagers through the year. However, with drought came a serious decline in apple production. It didn't take long for word to get out that the fun of the apple farms was just not what it used to be. Tourists slowly started finding other attractions, which meant the other attractions got the tourist dollars. Families were facing financial hardship and with the drought, their promise of a future turn-around was dying, right along with the apple trees.
After going through a divorce and being forced to move back to her childhood home, Holly Briggs sees her financially crippled community and is determined to save her family's legacy, as well as the others – but how?
At three o'clock in the morning, Holly woke from her sleep, sat straight up in her bed and shouted into the night, "BOB!"
Holly's ex-husband, Rich, was a cheater. Some accused Rich of cheating on her at their wedding reception. Everyone else could see that Rich was up to no good, but love is blind, and Holly had no idea how Rich had her fooled. When the divorce was finalized, Holly swore she would never think of Rich, again. However, Rich's older brother, Bobby, was the polar opposite of Rich. Bobby owned a successful brewery with five locations, spanning three states.
Maybe she was losing her mind, but Holly felt she had to reach out to Bobby and pitch her idea to him – farm apple beer. This was it! This was how she would save her community. It would be a win-win. What could possibly go wrong . . . other than everything?
