Omschrijving

A General History For Colleges And High Schools by P. V. N. Myers is a comprehensive textbook that covers the major events and developments in world history from ancient times to the present day. The book is designed for use in both college and high school classrooms, and is written in a clear and accessible style that makes it easy for students to understand and engage with the material. The book is divided into chapters that cover different periods of history, such as ancient civilizations, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, and the modern era. Each chapter provides an overview of the major events and developments of the period, as well as profiles of important figures and movements.Throughout the book, the author emphasizes the connections between different historical periods and the ways in which they have influenced each other. He also explores the social, economic, and cultural factors that have shaped history, and encourages students to think critically about the impact of historical events on the world today.Overall, A General History For Colleges And High Schools is an excellent resource for students who are interested in learning about world history in a comprehensive and engaging way. It is well-written, informative, and accessible, and is sure to be a valuable addition to any classroom or personal library. The conflict of races in Northern India gave rise to what is known as the system of castes; that is, society became divided into a number of rigid hereditary classes. There arose gradually four chief castes: (1) Brahmans, or priests; (2) warriors; (3) agriculturists and traders; and (4) serfs, or Sudras. The Brahmans were those of pure Aryan blood, while the Sudras were the despised and oppressed non-Aryan aborigines. The two middle classes, the warriors and the cultivators of the soil, were of mixed Aryan and non-Aryan blood. Below these several castes were the Pariahs, or outcasts, the most degraded of the degraded natives. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
